Hydraulic cylinder seals: types and temperature range
The standard seals fitted on our COL and COP series cylinders are Merkel, Polypac and P.R.P., with an operating range of -30°C / +120°C, suitable for most industrial applications. Seals for extreme temperatures or for contact with phosphate esters are available on request, for applications with specific operating conditions.
When the seal choice changes
- Standard temperature range (-30°C / +120°C): covered by our standard Merkel, Polypac and P.R.P. seals, suitable for most industrial plants
- Extreme temperatures: special seals available on request, for applications outside the standard range
- Contact with phosphate esters: compatible seals available on request, for specific hydraulic fluids used in systems that require them
A worn seal, or one not compatible with the fluid or operating temperature, is one of the most common causes of leaks in a hydraulic cylinder: preventive maintenance, with periodic checks on seal condition, reduces the risk of unexpected downtime.
